HOUSTON-- The Houston Texans have signed former Lions and Cowboys kick returner Reggie
Swinton.
Swinton, in his fifth season out of Murray State, can boast four career touchdown
returns (two kickoffs, two punts) and two receiving scores. He owns a career kickoff
return average of 23.9 yards on 145 returns and a career punt return average of
10.9 on 90 attempts. He also has 23 career catches for 280 yards.
Swinton was claimed by Detroit off waivers from Green Bay on 10/10/03 after the
Cowboys traded him to the Packers on 9/30/03. He re-wrote the Dallas record books
as a rookie in 2001, establishing single-season club records in kickoff returns
(56), kickoff return yards (1,327) and combined return yards (1,741). Swinton's
journey to the NFL included stints with the Arena League 2's Arkansas Twisters
and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. He was originally
signed by Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent in 1998.
