The Texans began Phase 2 of their offseason conditioning program on Monday at the Houston Methodist Training Center. Head coach David Culley and his assistants were able to work with the players on the field for the first time in 2021, and the voluntary workout was well-attended.

Culley and the staff worked with the rookies over the weekend in a minicamp, and the head coach was excited to work with more of the team today.

"It's a brand new football team, so we want to make sure that they understand from day one what we're all about and where we're going and what we're trying to get accomplished," Culley said on Saturday after rookie camp concluded.

On Saturday, Culley described how excited he was to be able to put a whistle around his neck, after going through virtual meetings the last month and change. He explained that what the rookies went through on Friday and Saturday was similar to what the rest of the squad went through this morning.

"We've had the veterans now for about four weeks, strength and conditioning on Zoom meetings, putting installs in—our coaching staff has," Culley said. "Starting on Monday, we get to do the same thing, but we get to get some field time with them."

The Texans will continue their offseason program throughout this week, and into the middle of June.

The 2021 Houston Texans rookies hit the field for the first time today.
