Rex Burkhead's longest run of the season gave the Texans an early advantage over the Chargers.
The veteran running back took a handoff and went to the left side up the sideline for a 25-yard score in the first quarter of Sunday's game.
The touchdown capped off an 8-play, 75-yard drive that burned 4:30 off the game clock. It was his longest run of 2021, and the second touchdown of the season. Burkhead was also one of Houston's captains for the coin toss. It was the third straight game in which Houston found the end zone on the game's opening possession.
Burkhead carried three times on the drive and picked up 37 yards. Royce Freeman's two rush attempts tallied seven yards, and the Texans averaged 8.8 yards per carry on the possession.
QB Davis Mills, meanwhile, completed all three of his pass attempts for 22 yards.
Domenik Eberle kicked the point after, and 6:25 remained in the first quarter.
