The Texans didn't mess around on offense to start Monday night's game.
Against the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium, n the first play from scrimmage, C.J. Stroud tossed a screen to Nico Collins, who zipped 67 yards up the left side for a score. That touchdown was wiped off the board by a penalty, but the Texans still found the end zone a few plays later.
Running back Joe Mixon, on the sixth play of the opening possession, took a handoff from Stroud and dashed 45 yards for a score. It was his eighth rushing score of the season, and ninth overall.
The drive went 77 yards and only lasted 2:17.
Stroud completed 3-of-4 passes for 31 yards on the possession, and Mixon's other carry went for a yard.
The Ka'imi Fairbairn extra point staked Houston to a 7-0 lead with 12:42 left in the opening quarter.
