Texans week kicks off

Cheerleaders and Texans players will rally fans for Texans Week!

The Houston Texans are inviting fans to join them in celebrating **Texans Week**, a series of festivities leading up to the team's first regular season home game Sept. 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

To kick off the week, the Texans are hosting their fourth annual Texans TEAM Luncheon on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at the Westin Galleria. A Texans player will sit with guests at each table as Texans founder Bob McNair and head coach Gary Kubiak talk to the crowd about what the team has in store for the 2007 season. Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the Houston Texans Foundation and its five primary charities.

Texans fever will move to Kemah on Sunday when the Texans Cheerleaders and players throw a free party on the boardwalk. The band Bare Necessity will give a live performance to entertain fans.

The Texans Cheerleaders then will team up with TORO to carry the Texans spirit over to Sunday's Fiestas Patrias, the annual Hispanic celebration at Reliant Stadium.

During the following week, the Texans will host the Gatorade Junior training camp, a football clinic, at an HISD school. The Texans Street Team, along with Texans Battle Red Stampede, Cheerleaders and TORO will hits the streets of Houston looking for Texans fans and handing out of team paraphernalia in preparation for "Go Texans!" Day. On Friday, fans city-wide will be encouraged to show their team pride by dressing in Texans colors.

The tone of the Texans Week will take a cultural turn Friday night as the Houston Symphony and NFL Films collaborate in their second annual concert titled "Gridiron Glory: Sights & Sounds of the NFL." The symphony orchestra will perform to a visual display of footage from NFL's private archives.

The next day, Academy Sports & Outdoors will host the Texans Tail Gate 101 party to get fans geared up for the gameday, real deal Reliant event.

On Sunday, Sept. 9, Texans Week will reach a fever-pitch frenzy as fans turn up their team spirit and turn out for the Houston Texans home opener against the Chiefs.
