Texas Bowl update


The Texas Bowl's participating conferences regular football season is quickly coming to an end. The Big 12 and Big East Conferences now have 13 teams combined that are bowl eligible and a few others that are fighting for a chance at postseason play. 

Three Big East teams now rank in the top-10. No. 15 Rutgers defeated No. 3 Louisville 28-25 last Thursday giving them the number one position in the Big East Conference and an undefeated record. The Scarlet Knights are one of only four remaining unbeaten teams in Division I-A. Pitt lost in double overtime to UConn 46-45.  The Huskies need to win two out of their next three games to become bowl eligible. USF had a 27-10 victory over

, boosting their record to 7-3.

The Big 12 had a surprising week with

defeated then No. 24 Texas A&M 28-27 making it the second time in two weeks the Aggies have lost by one point. Nebraska's victory secured them the number one spot in the Big 12 North and raised their ranking into the top-25 Oklahoma State's 66-24 victory over Baylor qualified them for the bowl season.

, the Cougars can clinch home field for the Conference USA Championship.

The Rice Owls pulled off a huge double-overtime upset winning 41-38 at

on Saturday. With two games remaining, both at home, Rice needs to win just one to become bowl eligible.
