It's Madden season. Well, almost.
Although Madden NFL 19 doesn't come out until August 10, yesterday was an exciting day nonetheless, as the often-argued, always-controversial player ratings were released.
So, how did Madden rank the Texans?
DE J.J. Watt's 98 overall ranking is the highest among Texans players. The three-time AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year just missed the 99 club, which includes Patriots QB Tom Brady, Steelers WR Antonio Brown, Rams DE Aaron Donald, Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski, Panthers ILB Luke Kuechly, Broncos OLB Von Miller and Packers QB Aaron Rodgers.
Four Texans were ranked in the 90s, including Watt, WR DeAndre Hopkins (94), S Tyrann Mathieu (93) and DE/OLB Jadeveon Clowney (91).
After that quartet, S Andre Hal (87), CB Johnathan Joseph (85) and RB Lamar Miller (85) are the next highest-ranked Texans.
QB Deshaun Watson, who set an NFL record last season with 19 touchdowns in his first seven career games, comes in at 82 overall.
Four Texans received a ranking of 81, including WR Will Fuller V, G Zach Fulton, OLB Whitney Mercilus and NT D.J. Reader.
