TRANSACTION: Texans sign QB Joe Webb III

The Houston Texans signed unrestricted free agent QB Joe Webb III. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Webb, 31, has played in 86 career regular season games (four starts) over eight seasons with the Minnesota Vikings (2010-13), Carolina Panthers (2014-2016) and Buffalo Bills (2017). He has compiled 888 career passing yards, 326 career rushing yards and 61 career receiving yards to go along with three passing touchdowns and four rushing touchdowns. Webb is the only quarterback in the NFL who contributes on special teams as he was on the field for 278 special teams plays for the Bills in 2017 and ranked third on the team with eight special teams tackles. He has also returned 18 kicks in his career for 401 yards (22.3 avg.). Webb (6-4, 230) has appeared in seven postseason games (one start), including Super Bowl 50, and compiled 180 passing yards, 68 rushing yards and a passing touchdown. He was originally drafted by the Vikings in the sixth round (199th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Alabama-Birmingham.
