OPENING STATEMENT: "I would like to start by saying praise, honor, and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ. He just gave us this opportunity to come out and compete today against a really good football team. I am very proud of the effort of our guys. They came out and played really hard. We battled and it was a really good battle against a really good team. We have to clean up executing in critical moments and finish them. That is where we have to clean it up. This was a great test against a great, playoff team and it was a playoff atmosphere today from the crowd playing against a really great team. I thought our guys battled all the way and we just have to finish in those moments. Quick update on Tank (Dell). Tank had a significant knee injury and he will be staying here in Kansas City overnight getting further evaluations. We will get an update tomorrow. All of our thoughts and prayers are with Tank right now. You see what he means to our entire team. It hurts to see him go down like that. He was having a fantastic game. He was doing really well for us. He was in a really good spot. We just want to keep him in our thoughts and prayers right now."
Q: What do you saw to the team after the game? Is it football based or more personal?
RYANS: "The first thing I spoke about to the team is opening up about Tank (Dell) and the update on his status. We are a family and we are in this thing together. He means so much to our entire football team, outside of playing and the person and man. He means a lot to us and that is the first thing I talked to our team about. That is bigger than football when we see our brother down in that manner."
Q*:* Did some players find it difficult to refocus on the game?
RYANS: "Like anybody, it is human nature. You see your brother go down and get hurt in that way, it is hard to bounce back. You see him and how distraught he was, it is hard to rebound because we care about each other. It is not just about get back to football. We care about each other and in that moment, the most important thing was to make sure Tank was okay."
Q*:* What is the status for the other injuries?
RYANS: "Yeah, we lost Shaq (Mason). He has a knee injury. Jimmie Ward - foot. Those are the two guys that had to leave the game and we will see where they are the next couple of days."
Q: How did you feel with your receivers after losing Tank Dell?
RYANS: "Losing Tank (Dell), we lost one of our most explosive players. He made a lot of big plays for us and we lost that. Everyone around him has to pick it up. Everyone has to step up and make plays. It is difficult to defend when you have Nico (Collins) and Tank out there, so of course, that changed things for us offensively."
Q: Where do you think you came up short today?
RYANS: "It was what we talked about all week. Every game Kansas City has been in has come down to the fourth quarter and the teams that made the plays in the fourth quarter won the game. There has only been one team to do that, and it was Buffalo. All of the other teams didn't execute down the stretch and now that includes us. We didn't execute in the fourth quarter. We had our moment there. We had our moment to drive. Defense had their moment to stand up and stop them to get the ball back and we didn't make the plays. Kansas City made the plays and that is why they are in the top echelon of the NFL right now. They find ways to win and play situational football. They did good job on third downs and staying on the field. We had ways to get off."
Q*:* On defensive play today…
RYANS*:* "For us overall, defensively, it was executing where we let some drives continue to go because we didn't execute on third down."
Q: How do you move forward knowing you have such a short week?
RYANS: "For us, the rebound is no excuses, no explanations, it happens. Injuries happen unfortunately all across the NFL. We can't hang out heads and sulk about it. We play on Wednesday. We are going to go out and prepare to get going on Wednesday. We have the Ravens coming in so another playoff team coming into our house and see where we are."
Q: How did C.J. Stroud steady the ship after a couple of turnovers in the first half?
RYANS: "C.J. battled all day and made some really good passes. I think our offensive line did really well versus a good defensive line and did a great job of protecting and giving us time. C.J. (Stroud) made some plays and I'm proud of his effort today."
Q: What kept you from seizing momentum after you stopped Kansas City on fourth-and-one?
RYANS: "For us, we will go back and watch the film to see what really happened. For me, versus a really good team, we have to step up and make plays to win the game. That's what it all comes down to. That was our message on Tuesday, to our guys. It's going to come down to us making a play to win the game. Kansas City is not a team that's going to mess it up. You have to go and beat them. You have to go make plays. That's all it comes down to. We were right there. We had our moment. We had our opportunity. I'm proud of our guys for battling, being in it and having an opportunity for us to get over the hump and go where we want to go in the playoffs. You have to find a way to make those plays in those critical moments."
Q: What needs to happen to clean up what looked like communication problems in the secondhalf?
RYANS*:* "I thought we were fine. We had a couple of delay of games but overall, we were fine. We handled it much better than we have in the past."
