Vanderblog: Focus is on Colts after last second loss in Green Bay

DRAMA ON COMMAND

The NFL has a way of flipping a script, of changing a narrative, of producing drama on command.

Such is the case with a scheduled invasion of the Indianapolis Colts at NRG Stadium next Sunday.

I know what you're thinking – "What!? He's not going to dissect the loss to the Packers first?'

Nope.

Not when I saw that Packer field goal attempt go through the uprights as time expired - and noticed that the Colts knocked off Miami. Those two events put Indy in position to snag a share of the AFC South division lead if they prevail on Andre Johnson Hall of Fame day.

As crazy as it seems, that's what's at stake.

PLENTY TO DEBATE

It wouldn't be the case if the Texans had handled their business a little differently at Lambeau Field. If you had told me coming in that Joe Mixon would have more yards on the ground than C.J. Stroud had through the air, I'd say you'd need medical attention.

The Texans passer was harassed early and often. Every completion felt like a Herculean accomplishment. The second to last throw has gorgeous. He found Xavier Hutchinson for a first down at the Packer with 12-yard line with about two minutes to play. It was almost a check-mate throw.

We can debate all day whether the Texans should have been more aggressive after that. Once Houston got the go-ahead field goal, the Packers had more than enough time to go down the field and get the game winning triple. A touchdown would have made things very difficult for them, not that getting six was easy on this day.

There were plenty of bright spots, like Mixon going over 100 yards for the third time in four Texans games played.

BACK INTO THE AFC SOUTH

The defense got two picks, including one by Calen Bullock, his franchise-rookie-record-tying third INT on the year already. Will Anderson Jr., Danielle Hunter and Tim Settle Jr. had sacks.

But everyone on defense will tell you that they'd trade any accolade for a stop on that final Packers' drive.

Now we get back into the AFC South. The Colts have manufactured their way into a 4-3 record. Anthony Richardson is back. Sole possession of first place is on the line. The Team hasn't been home in three weeks and needs a blast of Houston heat to get moving in the right direction again.

See you Sunday.
