Rookie Steve Slaton ran all over one of the NFL's top rushing defenses at Tennessee.
On a personal note, it's been a good couple of days for Steve Slaton, the Texans' third-round draft pick (89th overall) from West Virginia.
The rookie running back rushed for a career-high 116 yards with his first career touchdown Sunday at Tennessee. Yesterday, coach Gary Kubiak officially named Slaton the team's starting running back. Today, he was nominated for Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week honors for Week 3.
Along with Slaton, Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco, Miami defensive end Phillip Merling, Dallas running back Felix Jones and Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan are in the running for the weekly honor.
