The Texans went defense with their first two picks of the 2009 draft, adding some much-needed help to their front seven in USC linebacker Brian Cushing and Cincinnati defensive end Connor Barwin. They were surprised that Cushing was still on the board at No.15, and Barwin said the Texans told him they didn't think he'd last to No. 46 in the second round, either.
**"We are very pleased with the way that the draft is unfolding so far,"** general manager Rick Smith said, noting the athleticism and versatility that Cushing and Barwin bring to a defense that ranked 22nd in yards allowed last season.
The Texans will host a news conference for Cushing and Barwin on Sunday, April 26, at 1:30 p.m. in the press box at Reliant Stadium. **Watch it live exclusively on Texans TV**.
