Houston Texans RB Arian Foster and DE J.J. Watt were named to the 2015 NFL Pro Bowl, the NFL announced today. Houston will send Foster and Watt to Glendale, Ariz. for the League's feature of the best players on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2014. This marks the 11th consecutive season that the Texans have had at least one player elected to the Pro Bowl.
Foster will be making his fourth trip to the Pro Bowl after bouncing back from an injury-plagued 2013 season. He is currently ranked fourth in the NFL with 1,223 yards rushing, despite missing three games this season.
Foster has seven 100-yard rushing games and eight rushing touchdowns and is averaging 4.8 yards
per carry. In addition to his rushing total, he has 37 catches for 317 yards and a career-best four touchdown receptions and threw his first career touchdown pass against Baltimore in Week 16. Foster is over 1,500 scrimmage yards for the fourth time in his career.
Watt is making his third-straight Pro Bowl appearance after contributing on both sides of the ball, scoring three receiving touchdowns, an interception return touchdown and a fumble return touchdown. Watt is the first defensive linemen since Chicago Bears DE Connie Mack Berry in 1944 to have at least five touchdowns in a season and the first player since Chicago Bears DB J.C. Caroline in 1956 to score multiple touchdowns on offense and defense in the same season.
Watt has 72 tackles, 17.5 sacks for 120 yards, 25 tackles for loss, 47 quarterback hits, 10 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, a blocked extra point and two defensive touchdowns. Watt is the league leader in quarterback hits, tackles for loss and fumble recoveries, and is second in the league in sacks.
Texans TDuane Brown, WR DeAndre Hopkins and C Chris Myerswere named as alternates.
The 2015 Pro Bowl teams will be determined through the Pro Bowl Draft held on Wednesday, January 21. Pro Football Hall of Famers Chris Carter and Michael Irvin will serve as alumni captains, choosing the two rosters.
