It didn't take long for the "Motown Vermonters" to shake off the rust and get their finely tuned machine back up and running for the 2009 season. With QB Drew Brees (48 pts) and RB Adrian Peterson (37 pts) leading the way for this storied franchise, no player on the team scored less than 11 points as it was a complete team effort all the way around.
When the final whistle blew, the "Motown Vermonters" racked up a whopping 172 points to take the Week 1 title and now get the privilege of taking part in the Houston Texans' pregame entertainment by holding the Texas State flag when the Bull Pen Pep Band plays "Texas, Our Texas" at a game to be decided by Texans front office officials.
Make sure to set your lineups, because our Week 2 prize consists of two VIP passes to the Budweiser Backstage Party that takes place pregame in Budweiser Plaza before the Texans vs. Raiders game on Hispanic Heritage Day presented by Comcast on Oct. 4, 2009.
In Texans Celebrity League news…
At the end of the 2008 season, Ralph Cooper stood just 44 points away from capturing the Texans Celebrity League Championship Trophy and all the glitz and glamour that came with winning the league. He sat at home and watched as Butch Alsandor was treated to VIP dinners, ribbon-cutting ceremonies and appearances on David Letterman and Conan O'Brien. Ralph made a promise to himself to work harder than he ever has before in the offseason to not let a chance at the championship pass him by like the year before.
In Week 1, Ralph Cooper's "Kcoh colts" racked up 151 points in the Texans Fantasy Football Celebrity League as his hard work paid off. With Brees (48 pts), Peterson (37 pts) and RB Cedric Benson (16 pts) leading the way, no one could catch Cooper's team. Alex Radow's "Almans" finished in second place with 148 points and Dannie Rich's "Rip City Rockers" came in third place with 145 points.
The TCL Top 3 overall standings are:
- Ralph Cooper (kcoh colts) – 151 points
- Alex Radow (Almans) – 148 points
- Dannie Rich (Rip City Rockers) – 145 points
