My Friday Daily Brew is typically a "By the Numbers" as we head into a game on Sunday, but with a game on Thursday night, how about a little post-game "By the Numbers"?
3 - The number of sacks the Texans produced on Thursday night, one each from Jon Greenard, Ross Blacklock and Whitney Mercilus. That sack from Greenard was the second in his career and it was the first NFL sack for Blacklock.
56.0 - Whitney's second sack of the season was also 56th of his career. He sits second all-time in Texans history with that number of sacks behind J.J. Watt who racked up 101 in his ten years in Houston.
2 - The number of forced fumbles the defensive line produced on those three sacks. Greenard and Blacklock both ripped the ball from the clutches of Panthers QB Sam Darnold, only to have Panthers C Matt Paradis recover both times.
67.8 - In his first start in the NFL, rookie QB Davis Mills completed 19 of 28 passes without an interception against the number one defense in the NFL.
1 - WR Anthony Miller has played in one regular season game for the Texans and has one TD reception as a Texan. He scored the lone touchdown for the Texans before the half.
32/23 - WR Brandin Cooks has been targeted 32 times this season and had 23 catches, which is first in the league in both categories through Thursday night's game.
5 - Cooks also has five 20+ yard receptions through three games, which is second in the NFL. Second to whom? Well, the guy that had a monster day for the Panthers Thursday night - D.J. Moore has six 20+ yard receptions.
17 - Texans LB Christian Kirksey had ten tackles against the Panthers on Thursday night. It's the 17th time in his career that he's hit double-digit tackles in a game and it was his first 10+ tackle effort as a Texan.
Alright, that'll do for this one. Have a great weekend, and as always, thanks for reading!
