Rookie outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus has been credited with an additional sack from the Texans' Week 9 victory against the Buffalo Bills.
Mercilus was initially credited with a tackle and forced fumble for a fourth-quarter hit on quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. The play has now been deemed a sack for a loss of zero yards, which gives Mercilus two sacks in the Bills game. He now has three sacks and two forced fumbles this season, all in the last two games.
A first-round draft pick out of Illinois, Mercilus has been rotating with starting outside linebackers Connor Barwin and Brooks Reed. He got his first sack in Week 7 against Baltimore, a game in which he played 16 defensive snaps (26 percent). He played only nine snaps (16 percent) against the Bills.
