Texans Care Photos: Michael Thomas, WPMOY Nominee

The Houston Texans announced today Michael Thomas as its nominee for the WALTER PAYTON NFL MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD. Considered the league's most prestigious honor, the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award recognizes an NFL player for outstanding community service activities off the field, as well as excellence on the field. Each of the league's 32 nominees were announced today.

This year's winner, Mrs. Okoli, a 4th grade math teacher at KIPP Shine Prep, was honored in a heartwarming surprise with her entire fourth-grade class.

This season, the Houston Texans partnered with the Wade Smith Foundation and HISD for Reading with the Pros. As part of the program, campuses participated in a reading competition. The students at Mading Elementary won the competition reading over 150 books, earning them the grand prize of a custom Houston Texans "Reading Corner" in their school library!
