AJ80 IS GOLD: Andre Johnson's Enshrinement Ceremony speech came from the heart

ZT2_0352

The moment was about Andre Johnson: A Texans Legend had ascended to football immortality for the first time ever.

But Johnson has said over and over that his enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame was for his family, everyone that helped him along the way, and for Houston - a city that loves him fiercely and unflinchingly.

With the final speech of the day in Canton, OH, Johnson told his mother she was a Hall of Famer now too. He addressed all of the coaches that guided him from high school through the NFL, the teammates at the University of Miami and on the Texans that made his life special, including the McNairs.

He spoke movingly about his mother, daughter, brother, and sister, as well as his Uncle Andre, who he said was surely watching from above.

Johnson also recognized current Texans Head Coach DeMeco Ryans and the players in attendance.

Then he turned to the H-Town fans. He told a story of walking into the store and having a woman walk past him and, with no introduction, no 'Hey Andre,' say: "See you in Canton."

The many, many Texans fans that made the trip to Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium to see their hero enshrined cheered so long that Johnson had to pause and allow the city to, once more, let them know how much he means to them.

With his Hall of Fame bust displayed behind him, the first Houston Texans player to put on the Gold Jacket made his greatest achievement about everyone that helped him get there.

He showed why the city treats him as both a legend on the field and in the community.

AJ80 wanted to bring the city of Houston with him to the Hall of Fame, and he made sure we all knew it.
