As the 2016 edition of Texans training camp starts to come to an end, we have but a few opportunities remaining to see the team as they prepare for the upcoming season. Training camp practices tend to have a certain flow to them, and you begin to get into rhythm as to what you can expect on a day to day basis.
Not today.
Today was different for many reasons, most of them having to do with the 'visitor' in town. The New Orleans Saints, who will face the Texans on Saturday night at NRG Stadium in a preseason matchup, shared the practice fields with Houston today, as the two squads held a 'joint practice' in front of 4800 fans. The idea of a joint practice is nothing new to Texans head coach Bill O'Brien, who has mixed them in during past training camps to add competition to the mix. In fact, the Texans held a joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers just last week.
If you've never been to a joint practice (I hadn't until this morning), it is an interesting to watch unfold. Watching two different teams come over the stadium is quite the sight, and something we tried to capture this morning via Periscope. Check out the two teams heading to the field in the tweet below.
