BWTB: Texans to nab next Jerry Rice?

!

In the winter and spring of 2014, the Houston Texans had a chance to draft Jerry Ricecake.

On April 30 of 2015, they might just repeat history and select the next Jerry Rice.

Sorry. I had to.

The Texans have the 16th pick this spring, and the 49ers took the Hall of Famer Rice with the 16th pick in the 1985 NFL Draft. With four full months to go until the choosing starts, there's plenty of time to find out more about the prospects in this year's go-round.

But more recently, offensive lineman Zack Martin from Notre Dame went to the Cowboys last year at 16 and he turned in a Pro Bowl season. Washington took pass rusher Ryan Kerrigan out of Purdue in 2011 at 16, and he's been a bright spot.

The Texans have held the 16th selection just once in their history, and they chose defensive lineman Travis Johnson from Florida State in 2005.

Two years prior to that, the Steelers selected future Hall of Fame safety Troy Polamalu at 16.

There have also been a list of names taken at 16 that aren't as noteworthy.
