Since the start of training camp, the offensive line has improved in the most vital aspect possible.
"Communication," right guard Jeff Allen said. "And that's most important thing about offensive line play. Us being on the same page most of the time gets the play going. When one guy isn't doing the right thing, usually there's a negative play and the play doesn't get started."
Allen signed with the Texans on March 10, joining the team in free agency after starting his career with the Chiefs. He's seen immense growth in the last week or so in the way he and his linemates have been able to succeed as a unit. If that continues, he's optimistic about the direction of the team.
"As long as we're on the same page, it give us a chance to be successful on the offensive side of the ball," Allen said.
The veteran said left guard Xavier Su'a-Filo and center Nick Martin have grown "by leaps and bounds", and he's looking forward to practicing and playing against the 49ers this Friday and Sunday.
"It's very exciting," Allen said. "We've been coming out here working against our defense and getting better each and every day. Now it's time to put it together and go against an opponent in San Francisco and see where we are as an offense."
Allen and the Texans leave for Santa Clara, California on Thursday afternoon.
