Gold Cup update

His miss in the eighth minute appeared to be costly, especially after Amado Guevara hit the post with a first-half penalty kick and Cuauhtémoc Blanco scored from the spot later in the first half. But Carlos Costly kept Honduras alive in the Gold Cup, scoring two goals in the second half, including the winner in the first minute of stoppage time to lift Honduras to a stunning upset over tournament favorite Mexico, 2-1, Sunday at Giants Stadium.

Cuba and Panama tie in New York

With the 68,123 at Giants Stadium still abuzz following Honduras' stunning and dramatic upset win over Mexico, Panama stepped onto the field fully aware of its situation Sunday. A win over Cuba would put the 2005 finalists into the Gold Cup quarterfinals and put them in the driver's seat to win Group C.

All Panama would need was a successful penalty kick by Panamanian captain Felipe Baloy in the 90th minute. But Baloy, who was taken down by Cuban goalkeeper Odelin Molina missed wildly over the crossbar as Cuba rallied for a 2-2 draw that makes the race for advancement out of Group C wide open going into Wednesday's final matchday.

Group B Action, U.S. rolling to Quarterfinals

The U.S. continues to dominate Group B with two wins in two games. Both Guatemala and El Salvador are 1-1 while Trinidad and Tobago is looking for the first points of the tournament. In the final matches of the first round the U.S. will take on El Salvador on Tuesday night in Boston while Guatemala and Trinidad and Tabago will face each other in the second game of the doubleheader.

Group A Action, Canada looking to advance
