The Texans added to their secondary in the fifth round, selecting Oregon State defensive back Treston Decoud with the 169th overall pick.
"A tough, young man who fought through a ton of life adversity to get drafted," Texans analyst John Harris said. "Long, long arms on a 6-2, 206-pound defensive back in the mold of many current great NFL cornerbacks – size and length. Could possible play cornerback or safety. Definitely going to be a special teams contributor."
Decoud (6-2, 206) had 21 career starts at Oregon State. Decoud, with 12 starts at cornerback, tied for a team-high 10 pass breakups last season. Decoud also recorded two interceptions when the Beavers played Idaho State his senior year, returning one for a 75-yard touchdown. He earned Pac-12 Defensive Player of the week following his performance in that game.
