HOUSTON– This week's Houston Texans 5A Coach of the Week Award goes to Head Coach Herb Minyard of Baytown Sterling High School. Coach Minyard's Rangers (2-2) scored two touchdowns in the last 3:30 of the game for a come-from-behind 20-16 victory over Spring (2-2). Baytown Sterling quarterback Thomas Minyard connected on 50 and 52-yard touchdown passes in the games closing minutes to lead the Rangers to victory.
This week's Houston Texans 4A-under Coach of the Week Award goes to Head Coach Garry Dunham of Kashmere High School. Coach Dunham's Fighting Rams (2-2) downed Furr 40-22 after being held scoreless through the first half. Kashmere running back Nathan Guillory, the second leading rusher in the district, raced for 363 yards on 17 carries, including five touchdowns.
Baytown Sterling High School and Kashmere High School will each receive a $500 grant in their coach's name for winning the Texans Coach of the Week Award. Also, each coach will be recognized by Texans Head Coach Dom Capers in his press conference, on HoustonTexans.com and NFLHS.com, and on the video board at Reliant Stadium. Coach Minyard and Coach Dunham will also be invited to the Texans vs. Rams game on November 27 and the Texans High School Coach of the Week Banquet on January 19.
