Texans kick off Souper Bowl of Caring

The Houston Texans helped kick off the 2015 Souper Bowl of Caring early Wednesday at NRG Stadium. Hannah McNair, Houston Texans Cheerleaders, representatives from H-E-B, Kroger and Randalls, members of the media, and hundreds of volunteers from around the city came together to lend a helping hand to pack donated food items.

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is serving as ambassador and spokesman for the Houston Food Bank and Souper Bowl of Caring in 2014 - 2015. Hopkins has been successful in raising awareness about hunger and helping bring hunger relief throughout the Houston community through volunteer activities, appearances and nutrition education.

Since 2004, Bob & Janice McNair and the Texans have supported Souper Bowl of Caring. They believe the hype and excitement surrounding the Super Bowl can be transformed into the nation's largest celebration of giving and serving. Souper Bowl of Caring is a wonderful way to help hungry people right here in Houston as all donations stay in the community.

Year after year, Houston is the number one city in the country for Souper Bowl of Caring donations thanks to the generosity of Houstonians.  This year, the goal for Souper Bowl of Caring is 2.5 million meals to celebrate the event's 25th anniversary.
