The praise was heaped upon Ka'imi Fairbairn after the Texans beat the Bears on Sunday night.
Shortly after Houston was victorious, 19-13, at NRG Stadium, Fairbairn's head coach and quarterback both shared what it meant to have a kicker drill four field goals, three of which were from 53 yards or longer.
"Nobody talks about it enough," DeMeco Ryans said. "'Imi is the reason why we won these two games. He's been the player of the game. For him to hit six 50-yard field goals...I don't think that's been done before."
Fairbairn booted a trio of field goals from 50 yards or longer in the season opening triumph at Indianapolis. He's a perfect 7-for-7 on the season after knocking through kicks of 56, 47, 59 and 53 yards on Sunday Night Football against the Bears.
C.J. Stroud, who tossed a touchdown pass to Nico Collins to account for Houston's lone touchdown, pointed to Fairbairn's "ice in his veins" as a key reason the Texans won.
"I am super happy and proud of him," Stroud said. "We definitely need him.All points are big points. The preparation and who he is at practice, you know that he's going to knock it down just because how hard he is on himself during practice."
Fairbairn also sent through the extra point after the Collins scoring grab, and accounted for 13 points in the win.
"It's very special for 'Imi," Ryans said. "He's been consistent. He's on it and he's the reason why we're standing here. We talk a lot about offense, defense. But the kicking game is the reason why we won this game today."
The Texans are now 2-0, and will face the Vikings in Minnesota next Sunday at noon CT.
