The Houston Texans and Chicago Bears opened the 2024 NFL Preseason in the Hall of Fame Game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, OH Thursday night, but they didn't finish the game after severe weather in Canton, OH forced the termination of the game. The decision was made by the NFL in New York in consultation with local public safety officials.

FIRST QUARTER SCORING

Davis Mills led the Texans down the field to open the game, finding Teagan Quitoriano for a nine yard touchdown. Following a Bears punt, Mills hit Ben Skowronek for a 27 yard gain.

SECOND QUARTER SCORING

Ka'imi Fairbairn finished off a 12-play, 77-yard drive with a 33 yard field goal.

The Bears answered with a touchdown from Brett Rypien to Roschon Johnson. Then it was time for The Cam Akers Drive. A seven yard run, a run for no gain, then a connection from Case Keenum for 14 yards saw Akers help the Texans down to the Bears 29 yard line. Keenum hit Xavier Hutchinson for 20 yards before Akers closed the drive. A four yard run took the Texans to the Bears four yard line, then Keenum dinked a pass to Akers just over the goal line to put six on the board.

Rypien wasted no time bringing the Bears right back. A deep throw up the middle to Tommy Sweeney plus an extra point made the score 17-14.

THIRD QUARTER SCORING

Rypien struck again in the third quarter, connecting with Collin Johnson for a nine yard TD to put the Bears ahead.

The teams exchanged punts before Fairbairn missed a 58-yard field goal as rough weather rolled into Canton.

The game was suspended before the end of the third quarter due to lightning and severe weather.

Next up for Texans fans is a weekend full of celebrations for legendary wide receiver Andre Johnson. Number 80 will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the Enshrinement Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. CT on August 3.
