NFL makes 3 rules changes at Annual Meeting

The NFL announced three playing rules changes on Tuesday.

One deals with kickoffs, another with overtime rules and a third with replay assist. (You can read more about those changes HERE.)

At the NFL Annual Meeting in Palm Beach, Florida, the changes were adopted, and the kickoff change will have all touchbacks giving the receiving team the ball at its own 35-yard line, as opposed to the 30-yard line. Further, both the kicking and receiving teams will be aligned closer together to restrict movement and reduce space and speed.

Overtime, meanwhile, will be the same in the regular season as it was in the postseason: BOTH teams will get an opportunity to possess the ball regardless of how the first possession ends. Also, overtime is 10 minutes long.

The third change deals with Instant Replay's "ability to advise the on-field officials on specific, objective aspects of a play and/or to address game administration issues when clear and obvious video evidence is present." So replay assist can pick up a flag if there's clear and obvious video evidence a foul didn't actually occur.
