Texans vs Chargers | By the Numbers

POST 1-bynumbs

It's Playoff time, yet again, in Houston. After a win over the Browns in the Wild Card round last year at NRG Stadium, DeMeco Ryans and his crew are back to face an outstanding Los Angeles Chargers squad on Saturday.

So let's dive into some numbers for this matchup.

8 - The Texans will play their eighth playoff game at NRG Stadium - 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2023 and 2024.

15:30 - Each of the eight Texans playoff games have taken place/will take place at 3:30 PM CST, kicking off the NFL playoffs for the eighth time.

5 - The Texans are five and two in those first seven Wild card playoff games.

6 - Over the past 14 seasons, the Colts, Jaguars and Titans have combined for six AFC South Division titles, while the Texans have EIGHT titles over the same time frame.

1 - Texans CB Derek Stingley Jr was named 1st Team AP All-Pro, the 2nd highest honor for an individual player in the league. It's his first such honor.

2 - Stingley Jr and Ring of Honor member J.J. Watt are the only Texans defenders to earn 1st Team All-Pro honors

5 - It's been five years since a Texan earned 1st OR 2nd All-Pro honors. WR DeAndre Hopkins was the last Texan to earn 1st or 2nd Team honors back in 2019.

2 - Texans WR Nico Collins put up his second straight 1000 yard season for the Texans, racking up 1006 yards in just 12 games. Honestly, he only played a quarter against both Buffalo and Tennessee, so he really only played about 10.5 games in 2024.

5 - After just one series against the Titans on Sunday, RB Joe Mixon reached 1000 yards for the fifth time in his career.

5 - It's also the first time that a Texans RB reached 1k in five years (Carlos Hyde in 2019).

92 - Dameon Pierce's 92-yard TD run against Tennessee was the second longest in the history of the franchise and Dameon's longest run as a Texan.

97 - The longest run in franchise history was Lamar Miller's 97-yard TD jaunt, also against the Tennessee Titans, in 2018.

75 - Dameon's longest run prior to his 92-yarder against Tennessee was against the Los Angeles Chargers back in 2022. Here's hoping that he has another one for the next matchup with the Chargers on Saturday.

Alright, that's going to do it for this week. I can't believe it's playoff time and this will be my sixth Wild Card Weekend Playoff game (3-2 thus far). Hoping for win number four and the chance to move on to the Divisional round next weekend.

Let's GO!!!
