I truly hope that this Week 15 is as magical as week 15 was for the HOUSTON Texans last year. Case Keenum and the Texans went to Tennessee to knock off the Oilers, errrr, Titans in OT for a key win that put the Texans in position to win the division a few weeks later. A win over Miami could be the precursor for a division championship as well, but just got to take care of business on Sunday. Let's dive into the numbers for this one against the Dolphins.
6 - It's been six years since the Texans have beaten the Dolphins. The 2018 Texans beat the Dolphins on a Thursday night in convincing fashion but haven't beaten them since…nor have they played Miami in the regular season at NRG Stadium since that night.
2 - There are just two receivers in the NFL averaging over 100 yards per game. One is Bengals star WR Ja'Marr Chase and the other is Houston's Nico Collins.
41 - Since Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa returned to the lineup in week eight, Dolphins Tyreek Hill has 41 receptions on the season, including ten last week against the Jets in Miami.
70.2 - Speaking of Tagovailoa, since his return, his LOWEST completion percentage over the last seven weeks is 70.2%. Wow.
Week 8 - 73.7% v. Arizona
Week 9 - 89.3% at Buffalo
Week 10 - 71.4% at LA Rams
Week 11 - 77.8% v. Las Vegas
Week 12 - 72.5% v. New England
Week 13 - 80.4% at Green Bay
Week 14 - 70.2% v. New York Jets
2 - The Dolphins' two play callers both have a history with the Houston Texans. Head coach Mike McDaniel was an offensive assistant for three years in Houston with Gary Kubiak from 2006 - 2008. While he was in Houston, the Texans signed DE Anthony Weaver, who both played and coached in Houston. The Texans will see them on the opposing sideline on Sunday.
3 - Furthermore, both head coaches - McDaniel and Texans head ball coach DeMeco Ryans were on the same staff in San Francisco during the 2017-2020 seasons along with current Texans OC Bobby Slowik.
20 - Texans DEs Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr. have the most sacks for a duo in the NFL with 20. Hunter is fourth in the league with 10.5 sacks and Anderson is eighth in the league with 9.5, even though he basically missed three games.
3 - The Texans will start their third OL combination of the season on Sunday against the Dolphins. With Juice Scruggs out of this game dealing with a foot injury, there will be a new left guard in his stead.
2 - The Texans magic number to win the division is two. Any combinations of Texans wins and Colts losses that add up to two and the Texans will win the division
11 - Famously, the Texans will play THREE NFL GAMES in that many days. THE season is AT HAND, starting on Sunday against Miami.
7 - Texans RB Joe Mixon has seven 100-yard games this year. In 2010, Arian Foster set the team mark with eight 100-yard games in his second year in the league.
Alright, that's going to do it! Time to knock off one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL on Sunday. See ya then, everyone!
