Texans vs. Colts | By the Numbers

The Colts are coming! The Colts are coming!

It's like the redcoats in the Revolutionary War as the most hated villain of all-time stepping back into a building in which they've thrived lately. The Colts have had as much success at NRG Stadium since 2017 as any other team the Texans face. So, let's dive into the numbers for this key division matchup on Sunday.

1 - The Texans have beaten the Colts just one time at NRG since 2017. In 2019, the Texans came from behind to beat the Colts 20-17 on a Thursday night, but that's the last win in the last eight contests for your Texans, including a Wild Card playoff game in 2018.

4 - Over the same time frame, the Texans have won four times at Lucas Oil Stadium (2018, 2022, 2023, 2024)

159 - Texans RB Joe Mixon rang up 159 rushing yards on 30 carries in the opener against the Indianapolis Colts.

3 - In all three games that Mixon has started/finished, he ran for 102+ yards. As noted above, he ran for 159 against the Colts. Then, he posted 102 against New England and then 115 last week against the Packers.

3 - Texans rookie S Calen Bullock has three interceptions through seven games.

6 - Former Texans CB Dunta Robinson set the mark for rookie interceptions with six in his first year in 2004. Bullock is half

way home, with more than half the regular season schedule remaining.

14 - Colts QB Anthony Richardson ran the ball 14 times in a 16-10 win over the Miami Dolphins.

56 - He also tied his season high for rushing yards in a game with 56. The other team that gave up 56 rushing yards to Richardson? That's right, your Houston Texans, but Richardson did that on eight carries.

48.5 - Richardson is also completing under ½ of all his throws, completing just 48.5% of his passes. Against the Texans in week one, he completed nine of 19, 47.4%, but two of his passes went for big play touchdowns, while one other deep toss set up a key fourth quarter TD.

48 - The Texans held Colts RB Jonathan Taylor to his lowest yardage total in a game against the Texans in Taylor's career.

135 - Taylor has generated 135 yards or more of total offense in each of his three trips to NRG Stadium (2020, 2021, 2022). In 2020, he had 91 yards rushing and 44 receiving, registering a receiving TD. In 2021, he had 32 carries for 143 yards and two TD. In 2022, he ran 31 times for 161 yards and a touchdown. Suffice to say, he's not T.Y. Hilton, but Taylor certainly likes running at NRG Stadium.

6.5 - Texans DE Will Anderson Jr is tied for sixth in the NFL, alongside Raiders star DE Maxx Crosby, with 6.5 sacks. Will had 7.0 in his rookie campaign.

6 - Since 2013, the Texans have eight wins over the Colts. The largest margin of victory in that time frame is six points.

2015 - six

2016 - five

2016 - three

2018 - three

2019 - three

2022 - one

2023 - four

2024 - two

Average margin of victory - 3.4 points

375 - Hall of Fame WR Andre Johnson was enshrinee 375 in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He will receive his Hall of Fame ring on Sunday. Can't wait to see Dre get his ring in front of the home folks this weekend.

Alright, that's going to do it for this one. It's time to put one on the Colts at home, especially since it's been five years since the Texans have done that at NRG Stadium.
