Texans at Jaguars | By the Numbers

REG13-bynumbs

It's time to make the annual journey to the heart of Duval County to take on the 2-9 Jaguars.

Jacksonville will have quarterback Trevor Lawrence for this game, as expected, so let's dive into the numbers for this matchup with Trevor and the Jaguars.

8 - The Texans have won eight of the last nine matchups in Jacksonville. Starting in 2014, the Texans won every matchup in northeast Florida, minus a blowout win in the Jaguars division winning season of 2017. The Texans also won in 2019 in London.

9 - The Texans have won nine straight AFC South road contests, starting with a win over Tennessee in the rain in 2021. They beat the Jaguars later in the year, also in the rain and swept the road games in 2022 and 2023. Then, they beat the Colts on opening day this season on the road as well. That's nine.

278.3 - The Jaguars have the worst pass defense in the league based on yards allowed through the air. They have allowed, on average, just over 278 yards per game to opposing passing games.

5 - Texans star DE Danielle Hunter has five sacks in his last two games. He's now second in the league with 10.5.

9.5 - Texans star DE Will Anderson Jr. is one sack behind Hunter with 9.5, after having missed a number of games in the month of November. Will registered two of the Texans eight last week on Tennessee QB Will Levis.

2 - Jacksonville QB Trevor Lawrence has two wins against the Houston Texans, both of which came at NRG Stadium (2022 & 2023). But, that's the most wins for a starting QB in the division against the Texans - Will Levis now has one and Anthony Richardson has one as well.

3 - The Texans will play on natural grass, outside for just the second time all season and will play on natural grass, outside just three times in 2024. The first was in Green Bay, while the second is in Jacksonville and the third will be in Kansas City on the Saturday before Christmas.

8 - The Texans generated eight sacks of Tennessee QB Will Levis last week

198 - Levis registered nearly 200 of his 278 total on four completed throws. So, four of four for 198 yards and two touchdowns, then 14 of 20 for 80 yards and an interception for the rest of the game.

2 - Texans QB C.J. Stroud threw two interceptions; those were the first interceptions thrown to an AFC South foe in his career (nine starts over two years)

7 - Stroud has seven passing TDs and just one interception against man coverage, via Next Gen Stats.

38.3% - Also, according to Next Gen Stats, the Jaguars run man coverage on just about two out of every five pass attempts.

1 - There is only one WR in the NFL averaging over 100 yards per game receiving and his name is Nico Collins, the Texans star WR.

23 - The Texans defense is first in the NFL with nearly two dozen takeaways.

That's going to do it, everyone! Time to go back to northeast Florida and bring back a big win to get to 8-5 headed into the bye week. See ya on Sunday, y'all!!
