Texans vs. Jaguars | By the Numbers

REG4-bythenumbs

It was a tough week in Minnesota, but hopefully a full NRG Stadium welcoming the good guys back to Houston will be just the right tonic for this week's matchup against the Jaguars. Let's dive into the numbers for this one.

2 - The Texans will face their second #1 overall NFL Draft pick thus far this season. First, it was Caleb Williams in the SNF contest at NRG, then there's this one against Trevor Lawrence.

4 - In fact, every QB that the Texans faced, and will face on Sunday, has been a top four pick in each player's respective draft.

Anthony Richardson - 4th overall in 2023

Caleb Williams - 1st overall in 2024

Sam Darnold - 3rd overall in 2018

Trevor Lawrence - 1st overall in 2021

6 - The Texans won six of seven games last year after a loss. The only game the Texans lost after a previous week's loss was the week two loss to the Colts. They've won their last six in a row immediately after a loss. (Consequently, that means the Texans haven't lost back-to-back games since December 18, 2022.

364 - Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence threw for 364 yards last year in the Jaguars Week 12 win over the Texans.

304 - Texans QB C.J. Stroud threw for over 300 yards in that same Week 12 Texans loss.

2 - Texans DT Tim Settle had the first two sacks of his Texans career last week at Minnesota.

13 - The Texans are on pace to have 74 sacks - 13 sacks in three games in a 17 season. That would shatter the Texans team record, set last year.

23 - If there is anything that DeMeco Ryans wants changed yesterday, it's the Texans penalty situation. The Texans had nearly two dozen in the last two games - Chicago and Minnesota. That's an average of 11.5 per game. The Texans averaged under seven accepted penalties a game last year.

56 - The longest Vikings drive of the game last week was just 56 yards against the Texans.

10 - Since 2018, the Texans have beaten the Jaguars ten times to two wins for the Jaguars against the Texans. The Texans have not lost in Jacksonville/London in that time but have lost the last two to Jacksonville in Houston.

23 - Since a Travis Etienne fumble at the Dolphins goal line in week one, the Jaguars have scored just 23 points over the last nine quarters.

0 - The Jaguars haven't generated a takeaway through 180 minutes of game action in 2024.

338 - WR Nico Collins still leads the NFL in receiving yards through three games of the 2024 season.

39 - According to Next Gen Stats, Danielle Hunter (20) and Will Anderson Jr (19) are 1st and 2nd in the NFL, creating a total of 39 pressures on QB.

Alright, that'll do it for this week. See ya Sunday, everyone!
