Texans vs. Patriots | By the Numbers

REG6-bynumbs

It's time to break some streaks by winning a game at New England.

Let's dive into my By the Numbers for this weekend's game at New England.

0 - The Texans have never won at New England. They've had seven losses, including two Divisional Playoff game losses (2006, 2012, 2012 Playoffs, 2016, 2016 Playoffs, 2017 and 2018).

I woke up on Friday morning thinking about having not won at Minnesota and now this game coming up at New England. That made me think of another number

11 - The Texans have not beaten a dozen teams in their place of business. Now, it would make sense that most of these teams are NFC teams and there's only a road game to an NFC locale every eight years. New England and Baltimore are the only two AFC teams that the Texans haven't beaten on the road. The rest…

Seattle

Dallas

Philadelphia (never beaten)

New York Giants

San Francisco

Arizona

Minnesota (never beaten)

Atlanta

New Orleans

102 - The Texans offense has generated over 100 first downs this season, just seven more total and they'd be top five in the league in first downs.

6 - The Texans offense is sixth in the league with 376.6 yards per game. Last week, the Texans garnered 425 yards of total offense…and the talk after the game was that the Texans offense was out of sync after Nico went out of the game. Okay.

50% - The Texans converted a whopping eight third downs out of 16 chances against the Bills. Even after Nico went out injured, the Texans still converted at a 50% clip (seven of 14)

30% - The Texans defense held Bills QB Josh Allen to his worst completion percentage in his career. In three games at NRG Stadium, Allen has completed just 43 passes on 93 attempts (46.2%), averaging 160 yards per game and just one TD. The one game the Texans faced Allen in Buffalo? 20 of 30 (66.7%) for 248 yards and two touchdowns, one INT.

1 - This will be Patriots QB Drake Maye's first start in his NFL career. The 2024 #3 overall pick has just eight passes on his ledger in mop up time against the Jets last month.

8 - C.J. Stroud has eight games of 300+ yards passing in his first two seasons. As such, he's eighth all-time in this category with Chargers QB Justin Herbert leading with 17.

325 - If C.J. hits 325 yards passing, he'll become just the 2nd player in NFL history with 325+ passing yards in 7+ games in his first two seasons. Again, the only player that's done that is Herbert.

Alright, let's cut it right there. Time to go to New England and get a win. See ya on Sunday, everyone!
