Nico Collins "deserving all the praise" after 151-yd eruption

Nico Collins just needed a chance.

The Texans wide receiver logged 100-yard receiving day, again, in Sunday's 24-20 triumph over the Jaguars at NRG Stadium.

In all, he caught 12 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown. A pair of catches went for 26 and 23 yards, and two more were good for 19 and 18 yards. He entered the game atop the NFL with 338 receiving yards, and has now eclipsed the 100-yard mark in all three Texans victories.

None of these heroics are surprising to his quarterback C.J. Stroud, who's long believed Collins only needed to get passes thrown his way.

"I just think he needed an opportunity," Stroud said. "I think Nico's been great since he's been born. As he continues to grow, you just see him get better and better every week."

Collins, meanwhile, is keeping his mindset simple.

"Whenever the ball is in the air, just go get it," Collins said. "It's yours. You've got to be aggressive at the catch point, aggressive hands, and I just go get it."

He's now gone and got it at a prolific rate. It's the sixth straight regular season game in which Collins has logged 80 receiving yards or more. He's playing at an All-Pro level, and Head Coach DeMeco Ryans explained Collins has earned the accolades coming his way.

"He's deserving of all the praise and all the credit that he's getting," Ryans said. "He's one of the top receivers in the league, and he's showing it. He doesn't have to talk it; he's showing it by what he does on a game-to-game basis. He's proving that he's one of the best. He should be All-Pro, Pro Bowl, all those accolades should come to Nico because he's showing it every single week."

Collins has the most receiving yards in franchise history through four games (489) of a season. Stroud recognized the magnitude of that, considering his teammate bettered the likes of Pro Football Hall of Famer Andre Johnson and perennial Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins.

"Man, that's huge," Stroud said. "With all the great receivers we had come through this Texans organization, man. I'm just very, very happy to be a part of his journey."

This was the first game in Collins' career in which he notched 10 or more catches. He and the Texans will host the Bills next Sunday at noon inside NRG Stadium.
