The Texans dropped their first game of the season on Sunday afternoon, and they're already looking ahead to correcting their mistakes and getting set for Jacksonville.
Minnesota got the better of Houston, 34-7, at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Texans offense began the game by committing a penalty on its first offensive snap, and then turning the ball over on the next play with an interception. The Vikings capitalized, scoring a touchdown six plays later, and they would never trail the rest of the way.
Head Coach DeMeco Ryans described the focus for the week ahead, following the defeat.
"We can't harp on it," Ryans said. "We'll watch it tomorrow. We'll learn from the mistakes. It's all about, 'What do you learn from this loss?' You learn and you make the proper corrections for the next week. We should play better next week."
Quarterback C.J. Stroud was disappointed in the outcome, but positive about the future ahead for Houston.
"Once we fix the negatives, we're going to be rolling," Stroud said. "I'm excited, because the only way we can go now is up. I'm glad it happened early. Now it's time to go to work."
The Texans turned the ball over two times, didn't register a takeaway, committed 11 penalties for 88 yards, and averaged 2.7 yards per carry.
"Just a lot of negative plays," Ryans said. "We couldn't get the run game going like we wanted to. It's just it's hard to do anything positive when you continue to hurt yourself. So we have to go back to the drawing board, figure it out and not let one become two."
The Texans will fly home Sunday afternoon. They'll host the Jaguars next Sunday at NRG Stadium.
