After the Texans fell, 21-13, Thursday night on the road to the Jets, they pointed to a lack of execution as one of the key reasons for their defeat.
Houston took a 7-0 advantage into the half, and had more than doubled up New York in time of possession, 20:33 to 9:27.
But the visitors mustered just a pair of field goals after the intermission, and the Jets found the end zone on three drives to close out the game.
"It's not time to hang our head down and feel sorry for ourselves," Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud said. "It's time to answer the call. We got guys in that locker room that I believe in and I trust in."
Stroud was sacked eight times in the loss, and hit 11 times. He completed 11-of-30 passes for 191 yards. The Texans record is now 6-3 in 2024, and the second-year signal-caller remained optimistic.
"We're going to be able to be a really good football team and jt doesn't define us," Stroud said. "But it definitely is a wakeup call."
Safety Jalen Pitre, who finished with a team-high 10 tackles, including two for a loss, also shares Stroud's optimism and desire to correct mistakes.
"The biggest thing is just the execution, as a whole, from everybody," Pitre said. "Starting with me. We definitely got some things to improve on, and I'm definitely looking forward to it."
Houston will host the Lions a week from Sunday night at NRG Stadium.
