Got a question about the Texans?
Life in general?
Drew Dougherty's your guy.
He's been with the Texans since 2009 and is chock full of meaningful, as well as generally useless, information. Fire away by clicking
HERE.

Andrew Lofton: Dear Drew, Will the Texans be ready for the added pressure this season?
DD: We'll see. But it looks like yes, they will. From Head Coach DeMeco Ryans, to quarterback C.J. Stroud and the rest of the players, it doesn't look like the external expectations match the ones they have as coaches and players. And those hopes on the outside are pretty darned high.

We've heard Stroud reference the term "pressure is a privilege" multiple times over the last year or so, and based off his performance as a rookie, he thrived when the pressure was on him.

It looks like he'll be ready for that pressure in 2024, along with the rest of the squad.

Elijah Soufi: Dear Drew, Howdy! Which wide receiver do you think will have the most receptions and touchdowns and be the Number 1 for years to come?
DD: Nico Collins would appear to be the favorite. He just signed a new deal this offseason, he's coming off a 1,200-yard year, and is making plenty of plays in training camp so far.

But he'll get some competition from Tank Dell, who's also playing well in camp, and who was on his way to a 1,000-yard campaign before his early-December injury in 2023.

If Stefon Diggs has a big year and re-signs with the club, then he could factor into your mix.

But the bottom line is this: it's a nice question to ponder, because the Texans appear to have multiple options in those three, and perhaps in a player who might emerge independently of that trio.

Jacob Cartee: Dear Drew, Before the Texans came into the NFL, which team was your favorite?
DD: The Oilers. But they left, and I stopped liking them when that happened.

So I really didn't have a team in the late 1990's.

But I loved the Run and Shoot Oilers, and had my heart broken every January from 1987 through 1993. Those were some ridiculously talented—and colorful—squads, that just couldn't break through and make it to a Super Bowl.

Phillip Butler: Dear Drew, What can Cam Akers bring to the Texans?
DD: According to Team Analyst/Radio Sideline Reporter John Harris, Akers doesn't "go down on first contact", "is one powerful dude" and is "POWER PACKED".

He's competing for a spot in the group that has veterans Joe Mixon, Dameon Pierce and Dare Ogunbowale, as well as rookie Jawhar Jordan, who was drafted in the sixth round this year.

Michel Davis: Dear Drew, Who will return punts this year?
DD: There are a handful of players who've practiced returning punts during camp, and a few others who have experience doing it. Names like Desmond King, Steven Sims, Jr. and Tank Dell have all gotten reps, and Robert Woods took seven back last season.

Dell returned 11 punts, while King had the highest average with 12.6 yards per on eight returns after rejoining the team later in the 2023 campaign.
