Got a question about the Texans?
Life in general?
Drew Dougherty's your guy.
He's been with the Texans since 2009 and is chock full of meaningful, as well as generally useless, information. Fire away by clicking HERE.
Jose Quinones: Dear Drew, Any chance of getting another great rookie wide receiver.? Maybe WR Emeka Egbuka from Ohio State?
DD: Great question, Jose. Earlier this week, we released the post-Combine Mock Draft Roundup, and Egbuka was a popular choice to the Texans in the first round. Six different experts mocked him to Houston, and five Mockers think Missouri receiver Luther Burden would be a Texans first-rounder. Texas wideout Matthew Golden was mocked to Houston by three different experts.
O-line, however, was the most popular pick for the Texans. Alabama guard Tyler Booker was the most-mocked player, overall, to the Texans, as he appeared on nine different mocks.
But depending how the first round shakes out, Egbuka, Burden or Golden could certainly make sense for Houston at 25th overall if they're available.
***Congrats Jose, your question just won you Texas Lottery Scratchoffs. Someone from the organization will soon be in contact with you about it.***
Hayes Wallace: Dear Drew, What is our main goal in free agency?
DD: Get better.
More specifically, I believe the Texans will look to add competition on the offensive and defensive lines, as well as at receiver. Free agency begins next week, but it doesn't end then. Frequently, you'll see a lot of big name deals happen in the opening hours of free agency. Executive Vice President/General Manager Nick Caserio and the Texans have added free agents very early in the process in the past, but they've also waited a day or two, or sometimes a week or month or two to bring players to the team who wound up being valuable contributors.
Take last year, for example: a few days into free agency, the Texans and defensive end Danielle Hunter agreed toa deal, and Houston also traded for running back Joe Mixon. Neither player was added at the very start of free agency, but each wound up making major impacts on the club and each went to the Pro Bowl.
Joao Cardenas: Dear Drew, Can I work for the Texans?
DD: While I'm not sure what you do, I AM sure you should click HERE to see what positions are available, and I also know you should make sure you've created a profile at teamworkonline.com. It's a great resource and should be helpful to you in figuring out what's next.
Good luck, Joao!
Steve Moyer: Dear Drew. Are there going to be any good offensive linemen available in the NFL Draft?
DD: Of course. I mentioned Booker, above. Our good pal John Harris, who's a Draft guru, is also very high on North Dakota State's Gray Zabel. He played tackle in college, but did a lot of work on the inside at the Senior Bowl last month.
There are several options at tackles as well, but the Booker/Zabel names have been thrown around frequently as potential fits in Houston.
