Got a question about the Texans?
Life in general?
Drew Dougherty's your guy.
He's been with the Texans since 2009 and is chock full of meaningful, as well as generally useless, information. Fire away by clicking
HERE.

Pete Cortez: Dear Drew, Will we be playing our starting quarterback in our preseason home game?
DD: Barring a big surprise, yes, C.J. Stroud will start at quarterback Saturday for the Texans. He started last Friday night and played two series in the win at the Steelers. On the third play of his second possession, he linked up with wide receiver Tank Dell for a 34-yard touchdown pass.

We'll see how long he goes on Saturday, but Stroud's likely the starter against New York.

Rick Marsh: Dear Drew, Who will start at left guard?
DD: Throughout camp and the first two preseason games, it's been Kenyon Green. The 2022 first-rounder missed the 2023 regular season due to injuries, but over the last three months and change, Green has been impressive.

"I'm excited for Kenyon," Center Juice Scruggs said. "He's been through a lot of adversity since he's been here and I'm just excited to let him show people what I see of him every day."

Green was on the field his rookie year for 14 starts, but the Texas A&M product was lost to injury for 2023 in the preseason finale at New Orleans.

Jane Vidales: Dear Drew, What color jersey for Saturday?
DD: The Texans will wear their new Deep Steel Blue jerseys. They'll look sharp.

Nataly Lazo: Dear Drew, If you could bring back any player out from retirement to come back and play for the Texans, who would it be and why?
DD: In his prime, how about Arian Foster? That's no knock on the current crop of running backs, but Arian was special.

You can't go wrong with J.J. Watt or Andre Johnson. The latter is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the former will get inducted in the next few years. But the Texans look pretty stacked at the defensive end and wide receiver positions, and adding Foster to the mix would make the offense even more lethal.

Think about his 2010 through 2012 seasons, along with his 2014 campaign: in those four years, he averaged 1,378 yards on the ground, 441 receiving yards, and 15 touchdowns per season.

Plus, he was a willing blocker in pass protection.

Foster was a phenomenal player and would fit nicely in this offensive system and with this talented group of players.

Ariel Alameda: Dear Drew, How can we get more people in their seats before kickoff this season?
DD: Ariel, I think you'll see fans getting to the game a little earlier this season. After the fun times of 2023, and the promise of the year ahead, I believe you'll see more folks in their seats before kickoff than in more recent years.

We've also heard from Head Coach DeMeco Ryans about how amped the team is when the NRG Stadium crowd is rocking, and rocking early.

Rhoda Clark: Dear Drew, I have chosen 15 wins in the regular season and am curious to see what you think of my prediction. I can easily see us going to the playoffs and, yes, even to the Super Bowl. What do you think?
DD: I'd love all of those things. If the Texans went 15-2, they'd become just the eighth team in the Super Bowl era to win 15 games in a season. (The 1972 Miami Dolphins went undefeated, but the seasons lasted 14 games.)

Is it possible? Sure. But 15 wins is tough.

It's also an odd stat: of the seven 15-win teams, only the 1984 49ers and 1985 Bears won the Super Bowl. The other five teams all came up short of the ultimate prize.

I'll take the 15 wins, but let's win a Super Bowl with it.
